Panasonic Air Source Heat Pump Chiller Installation in Warwickshire

Chillaire Limited carried out the installation of a Panasonic air source heat pump system at a customer site in Warwickshire. The Panasonic system is an air source heat pump chiller which provides cooling in summer and heating in winter through ceiling ducted fan coil units installed inside the building.

Air Source Heat Pump Heating Systems

Air source heat pump heating systems seem to be getting more popular with customers, who are considering these to provide heating for their premises over a gas boiler system installation.

Air source heat pumps produce no or very minimal emissions and are very energy efficient when compared to other forms of heating systems, they also have the added advantage, that they will also provide cooling in summer during the summer period if this is selected at the design stage, where gas fired heating installations would be sitting redundant during this period.

Reverse Cycle Air Source Heat Pump Operation

The air source heat pump system installation is a single pipe installation between the indoor ducted fan coil units and the Panasonic air source heat pump chiller unit, the single pipe installation is flow and return. The same flow and return pipe installation is used to provide the cooling and heating water flow to the indoor ducted fan coil units. The Panasonic chiller unit uses heat pump refrigerant reverse cycle technology to put chilling into the water or heat into the water as it circulates and flows through the Panasonic ASHP chiller unit to the ducted fan coil units located inside the building, which then distribute the cool or warm air throughout the building.

Installation

The installation was carried out by Chillaire qualified engineers over several days, who carried out the chilled water pipe work, pressure tested it and then filled the system with mains water. After completing the pressure test and checking for leaks the pipe work was insulated.

Commissioning

On completion of the Panasonic air source heat pump chiller installation and leak testing the chilled / LPHW water pipe work installation, it was insulated.

Our engineers then proceeded to commission the Panasonic ASHP chiller unit and leaving it operational.
